Investor in People:
Here is the Assessor’s summary from our last assessment in August 2012.
Executive Summary
Rapport Communication Consultancy is a relatively small but high profile organisation that deals with all aspects of advanced communications and company development. Three years ago the organisation decided to use technology to help it to innovate, accommodate life styles and still meet the requirements of its growing number of high profile clients and customers. The organisation works with customers across the UK and Europe at a number of venues, including its own premises at Chateau du Ludaix. It is this platform of innovation and technology supported by continuous performance management and evaluation that the organisation is continuing to grow from. The organisation has faced the challenges well by continuing to offer a ` bespoke` and sometimes complex offer of services to its clients and also by securing new business as well as endeavouring to maintain contracts with existing clients, specifically in the rail sector.
The business is growing organically even in to today’s recessionary climate, the owner is positioning the organisation as best he can for growth with an increased focus on commercial flexibility and a proactive approach to new business opportunity and delivery, whilst also ensuring existing staff and associates are both adequately skilled to face and deliver services as required and yet reflect the quality of work life balance they require. Rapport Communication believes that the key to its success lies with investing in its staff and associates and as such is continuing to invest in the development of its people and is embracing continuous change in a very positive manner and assessment against the Investor in People standard and specifically the New Choices Framework is seen as ratifying existing best practice and helping to discern the way forward.
Strengths and Areas of Good Practice
- There is evidence of strong inspirational leadership and energy from the owner of the organisation and belief in his ability to support and encourage the business to greater
improvement and longer term meeting of individuals goals. - The development of a `virtual` company with people coming together with single aims and shared values to support themselves and the business as one symbiotic unit.
- There is a very strong and tangible emphasis on the `right` training and development for all involved with the business, with people acknowledging continuous development is an integral of their own and the company`s performance and profile.
- The culture was evidenced as extremely good, open and supportive with improved team working supported, in the main by the operating methodology and the empowerment
process evidenced by all involved. - Communication was evidenced as extremely effective despite both `geography` and the difficulty with consultants delivering on behalf of themselves and other providers. All
expressed a clear understanding of the current business scenario, the values and ethos the company expected. - There is an extremely strong culture of equal opportunity for all, with the company welcoming the value that diversity, with all its dimensions, can bring to the company as a
whole. - People understood and were becoming more involved in managing the required change processes that virtual organisations constantly require and will affect the business and its future growth and success.
- There was evidence of substantial opportunity for growth through increased profile, broader services and wide sector penetration.
